THE THIRD WIFE

SYNOPSIS: In late nineteenth-century Vietnam, fourteen-year-old May becomes the third wife of a wealthy landowner and quickly learns she can secure her status by bearing a male child. But her growing attraction to Xuan, the second wife, threatens to upend the fragile order of the household, forcing May to choose between silence and a path toward her own freedom.
